Crime Alert: Robberies (Off Campus)

On Tuesday, April 15 and Wednesday, April 16, 2025, at approximately 11:54 PM and 12:09 AM respectively, the University of Pittsburgh Police and the City of Pittsburgh Police responded to two separate reports of robberies. 

The first incident (11:54 PM) occurred at the intersection of N. Dithridge Street and Centre Avenue. The victim stated that he handed over his wallet after he was approached, pushed, and threatened by the suspect. No weapon was seen and the suspect then fled on foot in an unknown direction. 

Suspect: African American male with neck tattoos and dreadlocks, wearing a navy-blue jacket and gray sweatpants. 

The second incident (12:09 AM) occurred in the 100 Block of Robinson Street. The victim stated the suspect attempted to take his backpack and punched him in the head and face. The suspect fled on foot in an unknown direction.

Update on Ongoing Sudiksha Konanki Investigation

The University of Pittsburgh Police Department continues to partner with the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office, U.S. State Department, FBI, HSI, DEA, and local Dominican Republic authorities on the ongoing search in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic for Sudiksha Konanki.

This remains an active investigation and communications with other law enforcement are ongoing. We affirm our continued support of Sudiksha’s family and friends during this trying time. 

Additionally, we would like to encourage the Pitt community to be cautious about drawing conclusions from speculations circulating on the internet and to remind everyone of the community care resources that are available for Pitt students, staff and faculty: students can contact the University Counseling Center at 412-648-7930, and faculty and staff can reach LifeSolutions at 1-866-647-3432.

Finally, we remain vigilant in our search for Sudiksha and hopeful for her safe return. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office at 703-777-1021 and Pitt Police at 412-624-2121.

Update on Sudiksha Konanki Investigation

Since Sudiksha Konanki’s reported disappearance, the University of Pittsburgh Police Department has been actively working with the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office and the following agencies in their investigation to find and bring her home safely: U.S. State Department, FBI, HSI, DEA, and the local Dominican Republic authorities.

PRT University Line Project

Update March 29, 2025 11:49AM:

Lane Restrictions on Forbes Avenue:  Traffic restrictions along Forbes Avenue between Craft Avenue and McKee Place due to the PRT University Line project. These restrictions will be in place weekdays and Saturdays from 7am until 5pm for the next few months. Please allow extra time for travel or find an alternative route. 

Update February 28, 2025 12:12PM:

BRT construction to impact Pitt's Schenley Shuttle Stop:  The City of Pittsburgh has informed the University that there will be significant construction on Forbes Avenue between Schenley Drive and Schenley Drive Extension to support the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project – also known as the University Line. Construction begins on Monday, March 3 through the remainder of the semester. 

Due to the construction, the shuttle stop currently located on Forbes Avenue in front of Schenley Plaza will be relocated to Schenley Drive between the Hillman construction site and Roberto Clemente Drive. The shuttle routes impacted are 10B, 25A, 20A, and the 30C
