Hazardous Material Splashed in Eye
- Immediately rinse eyeball and inner surface of eyelid with water continuously for 15 minutes.
- Forcibly hold the eye open to ensure effective wash behind eyelids.
- Obtain medical attention.
- Report the incident to a supervisor.
Potentially Infectious Material/Bloodborne Pathogens
If potentially infectious material comes into contact with eyes or mouth, flush with water for a minimum of 15 minutes at eyewash station or potable water source and notify your supervisor immediately. Exposure to potentially infectious materials requires immediate medical attention.

Chemical Injury
If chemicals come into contact with eyes, flush with water for a minimum of 15 minutes at eyewash station or potable water source. Notify and/or request assistance from co-workers. Report the incident to your immediate supervisor.
Laser Injury
Eye exams must be performed after a suspected laser eye injury. All laser incidents must be reported to the Laser Safety Officer at 412-624-9505.
