The University of Pittsburgh Police Department is a full-service law enforcement agency providing 24-hour protection for nearly 40,000 students, faculty, staff and visitors. Located in an educational environment, we promote safety through education, prevention and community policing.

Since its inception, the University of Pittsburgh Police Department has steadily progressed into a state-of-the-art law enforcement agency.
Training & Qualifications
To ensure the safety and security of the university community, Pitt Police Officers undergo rigorous qualifications and receive ongoing training.
Our Partners
We work closely with Pittsburgh Police, neighboring universities, and law enforcement agencies at all levels. Pitt also contracts private security guards for on-campus security needs.
