Scott Argiro joins Pitt as Assistant Vice Chancellor in the Office of Public Safety and Emergency Management. He will lead the University’s Department of Integrated Security, including oversight of security systems and protocols, threat assessments, and security team management across all Pitt campuses.
He will work closely with local law enforcement agencies and partners, including the City of Pittsburgh Police and Fire Bureaus, to support campus safety needs. Additionally, Scott will assist Ted Fritz, Vice Chancellor for Public Safety and Emergency Management in leading safety initiatives and safety performance metrics, aligned with the University’s mission and strategic objectives.
Scott brings over 23 years of federal security, investigative, and supervisory experience to Pitt, holding multiple key leadership positions at the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) in Pittsburgh and advancing to Assistant Special Agent in Charge based on his positive impact. Prior to this, Scott was a police officer in Fairfax, VA for six years.
He is committed to taking a proactive, collaborative, and coordinated approach to the prevention, identification, assessment, intervention, and management of situations that may pose a threat to the safety and well-being of the University of Pittsburgh community.
He holds a Bachelor of Arts Criminal Justice degree from Mercyhurst University and has received multiple awards for his notable contributions. Scott resides in Pine Richland with his family.
